Pollen is abrasive, not just ugly
Every spring, Allen vehicles pick up a fine yellow film within a day of being washed. The instinct is to wipe it off with whatever cloth is in the trunk. That is how you put fine scratches into clear coat, because pollen particles are hard and you are dragging them across paint with no lubrication.
Spring in Allen also brings scattered rain, and rain that lands on a pollen-coated car and dries in the sun leaves mineral water spots on top of everything else.
Do this instead
Rinse rather than wipe between details. Water alone removes most of a fresh pollen layer safely and takes almost no time.
For the buildup that a rinse will not touch, our exterior detail is the fix: pre-rinse, foam bath, two-bucket wash, clay bar decontamination, and a microfiber dry. Clay bar is the step that removes bonded contamination and water-spot residue that has started to etch.
Sealing makes the rest of spring easier
Ceramic spray sealant adds up to six months of hydrophobic protection. During pollen season the practical effect is that a five-minute rinse actually gets the car clean again, because there is a slick barrier between the pollen and your paint.
